Posted by Katherine on January 22nd, 2010So…there were only three days of school this week. For those of you wondering, no, it was not initially scheduled that way. Wednesday we teachers arrived at the school, had our morning devotional and staff meeting, and then discovered that there was a blockade (evidently erected shortly after we arrived) that prevented the school buses from making it to the school. So after a few hours of monitoring the blockade we (teachers) were loaded into the teacher van and sent home via back roads.
The blockade was lifted later that afternoon and we were able to hold school as normal on Thursday. However on Thursday we were informed that today (Friday) had just been declared a national holiday (to coincide with Evo’s second inauguration as president). January 22nd will now be an annual, national, non-working public holiday.
It’s been quite a lesson for me, a first time, OCD teacher who loves to plan ahead. Lesson plans have been interrupted, things have to be pushed back, and life goes on. It’s a learning experience, if nothing else. And, as a girl who cherishes her sleep, I’m not about to complain about an unexpected day off!
In other news, the play has been determined and the scripts have all been procured! We will be performing “Alice’s Adventure’s in Wonderland” sometime in early May. (For those of you who did not know me in high school: I was the Queen of Hearts in “Alice’s Adventures” my junior year.) It’s a wonderfully fun play with plenty of zany parts for everyone; I hope the kids will enjoy it as much as I did!
More later. (And, no, I have not forgotten my promise of pictures.)
Cheers,
Katherine Elyse

We were thinking of you yesterday! Celene asked if we could play “flying on an airplane to visit Aunt Katie”. We prayed for you before our “fligt” took off :)
Aliza
oops that was supposed to be flight.
